Caretaker of Yuki and Bacio
FHO Recovery, One month later

FHO Recovery, One month later

Bacio’s surgery was a month ago, but it still feels like it was only last week.  Today we went in for a follow up appointment.  He’s still on the long road to recovery, but Bacio’s road might be a bit longer than most.  The stumble he took on the stairs may have set him back a couple weeks.  Although his knee and ligaments seem fine, the pain from the fall seems to have slowed his progress. I was able to…

Sveti Trifun, Valentine’s Day, FHO Recovery Progress

Sveti Trifun, Valentine’s Day, FHO Recovery Progress

Ah Valentine’s Day… the day that isn’t good for anyone.  It puts too much pressure on couples wondering what they should be doing, how far should they go on Valentine’s Day, and if they don’t do enough its grounds for an argument.  On the other side there are the single people who get to be reminded of all the warm fuzzies they’re missing out on by living their single lives.  I myself have 2 literal warm fuzzies, so I’m not…

Falling down the stairs, Post FHO

Falling down the stairs, Post FHO

After Bacio took his tumble on Wednesday morning, I started panicking about whether or not he tore a ligament or something of the sort.  Many folks tried to keep me calm and told me to wait a day or two, that maybe he was just sore from the fall.  Well I didn’t see any improvement the following day, and contacted a vet friend.  His advice was to get him checked out just in case. Today we stopped back in at…

Attempting Stairs after the FHO

Attempting Stairs after the FHO

We’ve spent our first night in Chicago since the surgery.  I moved my bed to the ground so that Bacio can sleep on the bed.  This morning I was getting ready for work and it was time to take him out.  The first trip down hardwood stairs. Fail. He fell, his leg looked disgusting, almost at a 90 degree angle, soooo I carried him the rest of the way down the stairs.  My daily work out are now carrying Bacio up and…

Week 2 of FHO surgery recovery- Stitches out!

Week 2 of FHO surgery recovery- Stitches out!

Wow, it has taken me a while to post an update, sorry about that.  To be totally honest there isn’t much to write about.  Bacio, Yuki and I have been stuck here at my dad’s house while he starts the healing process.  He is able to stand on all four legs, but you can see how weak and wobbly his right hind leg is.  This is an picture from a couple days ago: Today we went back to Fox Lake…

Post FHO cone of shame.

Post FHO cone of shame.

I can’t help it.  This is hilarious. I caught Bacio licking his incision.  and the cone went on.  He’s literally been sitting like this for the past 5 minutes.  I attempted to paw it off once and gave up quickly. Poor Bacio.  Yuki is trying to get near him but she can’t.  I don’t think he wants any company right now anyway.

FHO Recovery Update Day 4

FHO Recovery Update Day 4

Bacio’s recovery is coming along.  It has only been the first few days of many to come, but I’ve already seen progress.  The coloring around his incision is getting back to normal, and his butt isn’t so pink now that the hair is starting to grow back.  He’s finally getting more comfortable in the kennel, and actually tries to get back in the kennel when I pull out the ice pack. Those of you in Chicago know how cold it…
