Yuki’s ongoing allergy problems

Yuki’s ongoing allergy problems

As I mentioned in the last post, for the past couple years we’ve been dealing with ongoing skin and paw issues with Yuki, thought to be allergies.  It started with a little abscess on her paw, which grew until it was covering half her toe.  With antibiotics and diligent cleaning that finally went away after a few months.  But as that was healing, she started to develop a rash under her chin.  She was always trying to scratch it and…

Dog Allergies, pinched nerve, and a worried me.

Dog Allergies, pinched nerve, and a worried me.

About a week after I revived the blog, I was going to post about all the ongoing health issues we’ve been dealing with here with Yuki.  We’ve been battling toe cysts/abscesses for about 2 years now, a recurring rash under her chin, and sometimes her eyes get all crusty and itchy. The week I was going to post about it, she was having incontinence issues and I suspected it was from the Zyrtec we were trying.  Around that time the Chicago…

Crawling out of the Cave

Crawling out of the Cave

It has been way too long since the last update, post, etc.  A lot of things have been going on recently that have draw my attentions elsewhere.  I apologize for that.  I know a number of people have found their way to this blog because of all the FHO posts and you are probably all wondering how the little labrynees is doing.  It has been almost a year since his second FHO and his hips are holding up great!  He…

Back in Action

Back in Action

Well well well… I’m Back… Sorry I didn’t tell you I was leaving… thats just how I roll I guess.  My birthday is at the end of July, and I got swamped between work, seeing family, going out of town, developing new business ventures, having friends in town, and really dealing with some doggie drama as well. Just before I went out of town in August, Bacio had started becoming a little over aggressive.  He even went as far as…

We survived the 4th!

We survived the 4th!

Hello hello. Happy belated independence day to my fellow Americans out there…. I meant to write a post about fireworks and such, but I learned why there are “NO RUNNING” signs near pools the weekend before the 4th of July.  Its not so much for children… its for stupid adults like me, trying to show off for children, and slip and throw their back out.  (go me.) I was in bed for few days, and then the fourth was here…

Dogs and Thunderstorms

Dogs and Thunderstorms

Wow what a rough night we just had.  There have been some major storms rolling through the area, and in the wee hours of the morning Chicago got slammed.  I don’t mind a rain shower or light thunderstorm, but the severe storms and I aren’t friends (has to do with a really bad storm/fire I was in when I was a kid). Now I’m human, and have a fairly good understanding of basic weather concepts and can read the radar…

Bacio Fakes It.

Bacio Fakes It.

Ahhhh.  I’m so ready for winter to be over.  Every single time we have therapy, it snows.  The therapy has been going well so far.  Bacio has definitely gained some confidence.  He’s kinda like the hydrotherapy now and his sessions are getting longer and longer.  The laser therapy he’s not too sure of still. About a week ago, the little guy balanced on his right hind leg to pee.  That’s right folks.  He balanced on the leg that he had…

Post FHO cone of shame.

Post FHO cone of shame.

I can’t help it.  This is hilarious. I caught Bacio licking his incision.  and the cone went on.  He’s literally been sitting like this for the past 5 minutes.  I attempted to paw it off once and gave up quickly. Poor Bacio.  Yuki is trying to get near him but she can’t.  I don’t think he wants any company right now anyway.

Dog UTI and A day left for the FHO

Dog UTI and A day left for the FHO

Well one full day left until I drop by pup off for surgery.  I am no longer as worried about the actual surgery as I am about the recovery.  I have found some resources online and gotten some advice from Dogster.com‘s forum.  I mean I’ll still be a wreck all day on Friday, but things are starting to come together.  Some things I’ve read suggest that the stairs are going to be a problem for a couple months… That would…

Too big for a Cage

Too big for a Cage

Well, it is official. Bacio is too big for his crate. I finally got him in there and he can barely stand up inside there. You know, Bacio has always seemed tiny to me, it’s things like this that put his size into perspective. Off to find something that can contain this beast. Heh.
