{"id":120,"date":"2012-12-04T16:41:22","date_gmt":"2012-12-04T22:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.my2whitedogs.com\/blog\/?p=120"},"modified":"2012-12-04T16:59:56","modified_gmt":"2012-12-04T22:59:56","slug":"pet-shops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.my2whitedogs.com\/blog\/pet-shops\/","title":{"rendered":"Pet Shops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was just checking our my various social media websites (you can now find links to the twitter and facebook accounts in the page header to the right) to see if there was anything fun worth sharing. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aspca.org\" target=\"_blank\">ASPCA<\/a> created a video, that I think really needs to be shared. \u00a0It is about puppy mill puppies. \u00a0It isn&#8217;t one of those Sarah McGlachlan sad videos of shelter dogs. \u00a0And it is only a minute long, so I encourage you to give it a gander:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What Not To Buy? Pet Store Puppies!\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LvT6XTMv1ag?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I always push for rescuing a dog, there are too many good animals that are never given a chance. \u00a0I understand the desire to have a purebred dog, I own a purebred husky. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.petfinder.com\" target=\"_blank\">Petfinder.com<\/a> allows you to search for specific breeds, ages, and genders in shelters. \u00a0I highly\u00a0recommend\u00a0looking there, you may find the dog you want and be able to save its life at the same time (not to mention some pocket change, purebreds are pricey in stores).<\/p>\n<p>However, if you, or someone you know, is adamant about getting a purebred puppy to raise, please please please go to a reputable breeder. \u00a0Find someone who has a real passion for the breed you are seeking, and a love for dogs in general. \u00a0These people aren&#8217;t mass producing puppies, but trying to keep a lineage alive and pure.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, do your homework. \u00a0Dogs are a lot of work. \u00a0Some breeds require more attention than others. \u00a0Don&#8217;t get me started on huskies. \u00a0People see dogs in pet shops and think, oh how cute, I want it, never knowing the requirements and care dogs need. \u00a0These dogs usually end up in shelters or being passed on to others, waiting for a second chance from someone who knows what they are getting into.<\/p>\n<p>Just my thoughts for the day. \u00a0Have a Happy Tuesday. \u00a0And please share, if not this post, at least the video!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was just checking our my various social media websites (you can now find links to the twitter and facebook accounts in the page header to the right) to see if there was anything fun worth sharing. \u00a0ASPCA created a video, that I think really needs to be shared. \u00a0It is about puppy mill puppies.
