Allergies begone! Hello Nutrazinc!

Allergies begone! Hello Nutrazinc!

My last post left off talking about Apoquel for Yuki’s allergies.  I’d never ordered pet medication by mail and I had no idea how long the process was going to take.  It took about 3 weeks by the time I received the medication.  Unfortunately for Yuki (fortunately for her mama) I had a long trip to Panama scheduled in January. I didn’t want to start her on new meds, and be out of the country if there was an adverse…

Nintendo, SNES, Sega and Dogs

Nintendo, SNES, Sega and Dogs

When I got all A’s on my report card for a whole year, my parents got me a Sega Genesis.  I think I was in 2nd grade.  I still own that Sega Genesis today.  I’ve since owned a Dreamcast, Playstation 2, and an Xbox 360.  They were all played enough, but I always played the Genesis too through out the years.  In fact, I used to play the Genesis more than the 360 for the most part.  I recently added…

FHO recovery at the beach!

FHO recovery at the beach!

We’ve been in Florida for almost 2 weeks now.  Once we got over the long drive we were out and about.  Fort Myers beach is very dog friendly, as long as your dog is on a leash and you pick up after it, they can be anywhere on the beach.  We’ve been going there instead of the offleash beach just because Yuki doesn’t do so well with water and other large dogs she doesn’t know. Unfortunately It’s really hard for…

A road trip with dogs.

A road trip with dogs.

Friday morning I woke up and finished some last minute packing of the car, loaded the pups and headed back to my apartment to drop my rent check off for December and to pick up our co-pilot for the drive.  We made a quick stop at Loyola Park while we were waiting for Nic to get off work.  For those not from Chicago, the city has 26 miles of beaches along the lakefront.  I thought it would be cool to…

Tooth Extraction/Surgery for my Dog

Tooth Extraction/Surgery for my Dog

If you saw the post about Bacio’s birthday, then you saw those giant beef knuckles that he was chewing on.  Unfortunately, he got pretty possessive of them, and wouldn’t share with Yuki at all. The problem with that is Bacio is not as agile, especially during this post FHO recovery.  Yuki tried to lure him out of the room and beat him to the knuckles, it caused a scuffle between the dogs.  I took the knuckles away and checked them…

Canine Hockey fans!

Canine Hockey fans!

Congratulations to the new 2013 Stanley Cup Champions!!!! Our very own Chicago Blackhawks!!!!  What and incredible season!  We got to dress all pretty for tonight since they brought the cup home! Bacio doesn’t like all the commotion and would rather be sleeping though… He’s more of a soccer fan and loves watching Bruce Lee movies instead of hockey.  Yuki though loves her Indian head cape and wears it proudly. :cue Chelsea Dagger: G’night everyone!

Four months and starting to think of Round 2

Four months and starting to think of Round 2

It has finally been over 4 months since Bacio’s FHO.  Through his falls and his limping, I think we’re finally in a good place.  He is running around and playing with Yuki again.  He gets up and down the stairs.  There are days when I catch him over doing it and limping a bit, but I have to think its more from being tired than from pain.  The vet said that he doesn’t believe Bacio is in pain on the…

First Vet visit after FHO

First Vet visit after FHO

Well I thought my pups were due for their shots, but I guess they only needed their heartworm check ups.  Since Bacio was limping all last week, and Yuki constantly has issues I kept the appointment anyway.  My dogs and I have been going to see Dr. Andy at Chicago Pet Clinic for as long as I’ve had them.  He’s really great, and puts up with my dog paranoia.  This was the first time since the surgery that Dr. Andy…

Just Can’t Win. More FHO problems.

Just Can’t Win. More FHO problems.

These past few weeks have really wanted to stick it to me.  I have been so busy, that I sleep whenever there is time, even if that means from 3pm-7pm on a Sunday, and eat only after I find time to sleep.    I have been trying to get the dogs out and walking around while the weather is nice.  Bacio was making great progress.  We were getting on to walks that were a mile to a mile and a…

New Page for all Bacio’s FHO posts

New Page for all Bacio’s FHO posts

I’ve been noticing more and more people coming by the site reading about Bacio’s FHO surgery.  To make it easier for everyone, I’ve made a page linking all of the posts on the FHO, so that in the future, when I’m blogging more often on other subjects those post don’t get swallowed up by the blog roll. The page is anchored on the menu bar and you can check it out from here: Bacio’s FHO
